Latest Public Safety Spectrum Assessment to Begin in 2022
NPSTC is beginning a new Assessment of Future Spectrum and Technology (AFST), a project that will track the spectrum that public safety currently uses and help determine future public safety spectrum requirements.
Ryan Poltermann, Karen White, John Lenihan and Dean Skidmore have agreed to contribute.  Volunteers will have a key role in this initiative.
The main work will begin in 2022 and the intended audience is the North American public safety community.  The group will review the last AFST report and develop a vision and mission statement.  Once the scope is determined, NPSTC will issue a request for volunteers who want to participate.  The next steps for implementation will begin with meetings held remotely one or two times per month.
The last AFST study and report, completed in June 2012, took a year to complete.  NPSTC expects the new study and development of an updated document will take a similar effort.  There will be three steps:  using the previous report for structure and format, reviewing achievements or conclusions that still apply, and updating the previous report with relevant changes from the last 10 years and a forecast for the next 10 years.
Contact support@npstc.org if you would like to volunteer to contribute to the updated project and report.
