Comments Open on P25 CAP Bulletins for 30 Days
The Office for Interoperability and Compatibility has extended the review and comment period on P25 CAP CABs for 30 days.  If upon further review by all impacted parties additional time is needed, DHS OIC will revisit.  P25 CAP website is located here:
Below please find a complete list of the CABs that are currently available for public comment on the firstresponder.gov web site:
Project 25:  Project 25 (P25) develops standards for interoperable land mobile radio (LMR) systems so that emergency responders can exchange critical communications across agencies and jurisdictions.  P25 standardizes interfaces between the various components of the LMR systems that emergency responders use.
P25 CAP:  Congress legislated the P25 Compliance Assessment Program (P25 CAP) to ensure that LMR equipment complies with P25 standards for interoperability across suppliers.  The P25 CAP is a partnership of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Interoperability and Compatibility, industry, and the emergency response community.  The initial program focus is on the Common Air Interface, which allows for over-the-air compatibility between radios and tower equipment.
About the P25 CAP Handout describes how the P25 CAP works, the value of the program to public safety, and the program’s long-term-goals.
